David Shumate is the General Director of Mission Gospel Ministries International (formerly Mexican Gospel Mission). He holds a law degree from Harvard (1986), where he and his wife, Linda, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. He subsequently received Master of Divinity (1993) and Doctor of Philosophy (2001) degrees from Bob Jones University Seminary. He taught in the School of Religion and the Seminary at Bob Jones for eight years (five years full time). Linda has an undergraduate degree and graduate training in Chemistry.

For five years Linda served part-time as a textbook author at the BJU press in addition to her full-time ministry as wife and mother. David and Linda are longtime members of Faith Baptist Church (Dr. John Vaughn, Pastor), where David was the Associate Pastor for fifteen years.

At Faith, Linda ministered in the areas of music, Sunday school, counseling, and helping to author fourth and fifth grade materials for the Frontline children’s clubs.

The Lord has blessed the Shumates with six children (Ruth, Robert, Katherine, Stephen, Mary, and Joanna) who are helping them in the ministry.

The Shumate family has a great burden to mobilize churches to reach the Hispanic world for Jesus Christ. The Shumates are currently on deputation for their new ministry.
